Founder & Acting Director
Kris Murphy
Kris Murphy is an Atmospheric Scientist with 27 years of professional water and environmental engineering experience, working on federal, county, and municipal projects. She is an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.), Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM), Certified Climate Change Professional (CC-P), and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP).
Ms. Murphy is the owner of Confluence Climate Consulting. She serves on a local environmental advocacy board and leads a suburban climate action team. She previously served on her City’s sustainability board. She continues to participate in multiple working groups to implement a county climate action implementation plan. She has experience with energy and water assessments for public water plants and food establishments.

Jodi Trendler
Jodi Trendler is a sustainability systems designer, educator, and community leader dedicated to building resilient cities and organizations. She serves as the Director of Sustainability and Resilience for the City of Norwalk, Connecticut, leading initiatives in climate action, renewable energy, and community-wide resilience.
Jodi co-founded and led The Resiliency Institute, advancing permaculture and food security programs, and has guided thousands through forest therapy walks that connect people to nature. She also teaches sustainability and urban agriculture as an Adjunct Faculty member at Southern New Hampshire University and the College of DuPage.
She holds an ALM in Sustainability from Harvard University Extension School, a Master’s in Agroforestry from the University of Missouri, and is a certified WEDG® Associate in resilient waterfront design.

Lucy Chang Evans
Lucy Chang Evans is a civil engineer, public servant, and community leader with a career spanning public works, stormwater management, and public safety. She currently serves on the DuPage County Board, where she helps guide policy, budgets, and countywide initiatives in transportation, community services, and environmental resilience.
A licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois and California, Lucy previously worked as a Stormwater Management Project Engineer for DuPage County and as a Special Agent with the U.S. Secret Service, where she provided protective services and conducted criminal investigations. Her background combines technical expertise, public service, and leadership in complex, high-stakes environments.
Lucy holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Southern California and an MBA from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). Passionate about collaboration, transparency, and sustainability, Lucy is dedicated to serving her community with integrity and vision.

Lorax
The Lorax is a steadfast protector of nature and ecosystems, known for “speaking for the trees” and defending the balance of the natural world. With his distinctive orange form and iconic mustache, he has long stood as a symbol of environmental stewardship and accountability.
Passionate and uncompromising, the Lorax challenges exploitation and unsustainable practices, reminding others of their responsibility to live in harmony with the planet. Though often stern in his warnings, his work is rooted in deep compassion for all living things.
Through his enduring message, the Lorax inspires communities and individuals to protect natural resources, uphold intergenerational responsibility, and recognize that growth and care for the environment must go hand in hand.
