Single-Use Plastic Retail Bag Reduction Assistance Coming to Chicagoland in 2027

CGCC is promoting Closed Loop Partners' "Beyond the Bag" consortium to assist retailers to reinvent the retail bag. They can assist with signage, cashier training, and customer communications.

CGCC members can find additional resources from Closed Loop Partners on the members only resource page. Retailers can reduce their operating costs while reducing plastic bag pollution by encouraging customers to bring their own reusable bag (organic cloth is best) or skipping the bags. (6/15/26)

CGCC would like to highlight green restaurants – those that use locally sourced food, compost food scraps, offer compostable or reusable take out containers, allow “bring your own” containers and cups, or use compostable or reusable food ware and utensils.
